Overview:

We are looking for a Recycling and Waste Team Leader to assist in collecting all aspects of waste throughout the county borough. This will include, domestic waste, trade waste and recycling which incorporates black box collections, green waste, cardboard and food. You will also supervise/manage the waste collection operatives to fulfil their duties of their role.

Applicants must hold a HGV Cat C licence.

Responsibilities:

• To operate the waste collection vehicle in a safe and effective manner.
• To monitor the performance of your crew on a daily basis and report back to your supervisor.
• To supervise/manage the waste collection operatives to fulfil the duties of their role effectively and efficiently in accordance with all Health and Safety requirements.
• To identify and provide additional assistance for members of the public who are experiencing difficulties in carrying out the separation of their waste.
• Carry out regular audits of the number of waste receptacles collected by your team, and relay this information to your supervisor.
• To work within the Local authorities policies and procedures.
• Ensure safe working practices are followed.
• Ensure safe operation of the vehicle.
• Ensure routine maintenance checks/inspection sheets are completed.
• Duties may entail working outside normal working hours, including weekends and bank holidays

Knowledge and experience:

• Supervisory experience
• Experience of driving refuse / recycling vehicles
• Holds a current HGV Licence
• Experience of completing daily log sheets and tachograph / books
• able to operate electronic ICT systems
• Experience of collecting and recycling rubbish

Overtime may be available, when required.
