Design Engineer

Location: Castleford

Reporting to: Technical Manager

We are currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our clients well-established team. Our client has proven experience in design and manufacturing, providing pumping solutions, systems and services for the global water, wastewater, flood control and industrial markets.

Overview: To effectively construct, design and contract manage pump projects from order receipt to delivery to the Customer within agreed timescales and required margins.

Key Responsibilities:

· Mechanical design of products and pump assemblies used within multiple pumping applications.

· Creation and maintenance of accurate GA’s of Bills of Material within the EMIR system on time, every time.

· Manage the Contract Management process.

· Contract Manage projects from order receipt to delivery to Customer including project planning, cost control and documentation management.

· Effective project management to ensure projects are delivered on time and on/under budget.

· Accurate project documentation provided to the Customer on time.

· Carry out site surveys with detailed reporting to allow the team to construct detailed quotations/tenders.

· Submit all required information for any project sign-off.

· Ensure all project costing, plans and documentation are up to date.

· Ensure all data recording systems are up to date including drawing/part revision and managing the engineering change process.

· Provide technical support to the Application Engineers, Regional Sales managers and Operations Team as and when required.

· Support the development of the mixer selection program and supportive Bills of Materials and GA drawings.

· Provide assistance and support to the Technical Manager.

Qualifications & Required Experience:

· Strong working experience of CAD and 3D modelling preferably Solidworks.

· Minimum of HNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

· Recognised time served apprenticeship/training within a mechanical/electrical engineering discipline.

· Ability to interpret Customer design and specifications

· Good understanding of CDM regulations

· Experience of revision-controlled drawings and transmission of specifications

· Strong experience in project management of mechanical or industrial engineering products.

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to internal team members, Customers and suppliers.

· Ability to plan and meet deadlines

· Reduce costs in the supply chain by design

· Experience of working with fabrications, materials and processes

· Experience in reviewing technical product designs

· Ability to work on project budgets

· Commercial and contractually astute with working experience of contracts including NEC3 and 4.

· Good product and application knowledge of pumps particularly wastewater.

· Experience working within an ISO quality system

· Excellent analytical skills including ERP systems and MS Office.
