Summary:

To work closely with production, sales and customers, and be responsible for the design, development, application and qualification of processes.

Overview:

The position works within the Engineering Department but will require a liaison with all other departments to ensure responsibilities are carried out effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • To engineer solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • To develop methods suitable for ongoing production following established procedures.
  • To accurately capture customer requirements, define, specify and design verification systems to enable manufacturing to fully achieve customer requirements.
  • To develop associated machining and finishing operations in conjunction with sub-contractors or in-house machinists.
  • To design fixtures and tooling with Solidworks package that facilitate error free and productive manufacturing.
  • To liaise with, and vet necessary suppliers as required.
  • To prepare manufacturing related ‘documentation’- images, drawings, work instructions, Bills of material and process routing cards that facilitate error free and productive manufacturing.
  • To provide appropriate technical support to sales and production.
  • To manage application & improvement projects within budget & timescales.
  • To provide accurate job costings and review manufacturing costs accordingly.
  • To be customer facing, and in conjunction with sales, liaise on technical matters.
  • To attend meetings and prepare reports for management review as requested.
  • To provide mentoring support and training to co-workers as required.
  • To contribute to continuous improvement activities including developing practices and procedures.
  • To be commercially responsible at all times, safeguarding proprietary information, minimising wastage and not exposing the company to unnecessary risk.
  • To maintain a clean & safe environment, working within the Company’s quality, health, safety and environmental management systems at all times.
  • To undertake any other related duties as requested by your manager.

Personal Competencies

  • Strong background in mechanical, or similar manufacturing engineering discipline.
  • Must be able to show an understanding of the design, cradle-to-grave, process.
  • IT literacy: familiarity with Microsoft software and Solidworks. (Alternative CAD experience will be acceptable).
  • To have a keen eye for detail and a results driven approach
  • The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, managers and clients;
  • The ability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines;
  • The ability to work in a logical, systematic manner.
  • Creative, imaginative personality.
  • Takes responsibility seriously and assumes ownership of projects.
