To undertake legal work within the relevant functional area and to advise on legal matters; to act on the Local authorities instructions as a Solicitor; and where necessary and appropriate to represent the Local authority in Court and at Tribunals, hearings and inquiries.

PLEASE NOTE: You must be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister and must have the required competencies as per the Behavioural Competency Framework.

Duties:

- Represent clients in court or before government agencies.
- Prepare legal documents such as contracts, wills, and deeds.
- Provide legal advice to clients on various issues.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
- Research and analyze legal problems.

Experience & Skills:

- Strong negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.

- Hold current practising certificate or have rights of audience or equivalent

- Experience and Knowledge of work within the functional area / practical knowledge of public law

- Effective advocate or communicator

- Good drafting skills

- Able to work with the minimum of supervision

- Good IT skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, use of online legal facilities and legal case management systems)

- Commitment to high quality work

- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
